The British government is set to progress with using the entire amount of seized Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be carried out in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom penalties have frozen more than £25bn of Russian resources since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had exclusively been drawn from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their desire to drive progress toward using the complete amount of the frozen Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He stated that more measures soon would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This announcement comes after European Union leaders convened in Copenhagen recently to debate utilizing frozen Russian assets for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use frozen Russia's assets, based on reports.

The total of frozen Russia's holdings in the EU is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow executed extensive missile and drone strikes all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to blackouts in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were killed and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the attack, Ukrainian officials said.

In a message on an online platform after the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not just talk but decisive action - from the America, the European Union, and the seven nations - in delivering anti-aircraft weapons and implementing restrictions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to enter the PURL programme, under which partner nations purchase weapons from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's firm backing for Kyiv, he remarked it should indicate firmly that it would participate in the program, as well as enforce further measures on Russia.
